Bouncy houses are something that we all love and that we have played in at one time or another. As we age, we are less likely to enjoy the bouncing fun, but we can sit back, relax, and watch our kiddos enjoy the inflatable obstacle courses that we once enjoyed ourselves. Isn’t it fun to see your kids enjoy something you also enjoyed at their age?
While we are all familiar with bouncy houses and Holiday inflatable airblown price obstacle courses, very few of us know where they came from or the history behind these fun toys. Our team at Jumpin’ Jamboree in Doral was curious about the history behind what makes our business what is it — the inflatable bouncy houses. In this blog, we are going to discuss the history to teach you a thing or two. This may be fun to share with your child before bringing them to our kids’ play place!
  The First Inflatable Structure
The first inflatable structure was invented by John Scurlock in 1959. This first inflatable was invented by accident while experimenting with inflatable covers for tennis courts. Scurlock noticed that the employees were having fun jumping on the inflated tennis court covers. He started to play with this idea and called his original inflatable structure design a “Space Walks” and began a business with the same name.
The very first inflatable structure he created was similar to a large air mattress and was marketed toward kids. A few years later, walls were added to this structure to create what we picture when we think of a bouncy house. These structures were used in England at a fundraiser and around this time, the Space Walks became known as a Moonwalks. When the walls were added, these inflatable structures become hot, and soon the walls were ditched for columns that supported netting, allowing kids to play without overheating.
Scurlock’s wife, Frances, realized that the market for their inflatables was limited, and came up with the idea of renting them out for birthday parties, school fairs, company picnics, and similar types of events. Slowly, inflatables became popular for entertainment purposes and the industry began to grow.
  A Little About John Scurlock
John Scurlock was an electrical engineer in Louisiana. Scurlock graduated from Texas A&M University, but during his time at the university, he was drafted into the US Army. After WWII, he went back to the university to complete his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering. After completing his degrees, Scurlock got recalled to the army and spent some time in Germany before returning to Texas, where he became the director of the physics department at a local college.
John’s son, Frank, was responsible for expanding this business and taking it nationwide. In the late 1980s, he expanded the business further into inflatable play parks, which have become quite popular over the decades.
  Expansion of Inflatable Structures
What started as an accident quickly became a giant air mattress that was used for entertainment. The first bouncy house was developed when walls were added to the large inflatable mat, and the structure most of us are familiar with, with columns and netted sides, was created from there.
Since the creation, different styles of inflatable structures have been created and have become popular throughout the decades. From inflatable water slides to inflatable obstacle courses, there are a huge variety of different inflatable structures that have become popular and common at different events.
Now that you know more about the history of bouncy houses and inflatable structures, you can teach your child something new before bringing them to our indoor inflatable playground. Make learning fun and contact us today to get your questions answered!

Bounce houses and other interactive inflatables make for fun, safe activities for kids and adults alike, but as with anything else proper safety protocols are essential to avoid accidents and injuries.
When it comes to renting or using an inflatable, anchoring is an essential part of setting it up, so keep the following points in mind:
  1. What You Weigh It Down With
As a basic rule, stakes are best for tying down an Inflatable Airblown manufacturers, while weights, specifically sandbags, are ideal for indoor uses.
For the outdoors, however, consider what you’ll use, as not every stake will do. Stakes must prevent the bounce house from falling over or blowing away, and a small plastic model just doesn’t have the power. Ideally, once of these should be able to hold down 100 to 1,000 pounds. Composition wise, heavy-duty steel stakes measuring 30 to 40 inches in length are the most dependable.
  2. Setting It Up
Yet, just because you have the stakes, that doesn’t mean the inflatable is already safe. Instead, you need to consider these factors:
A bounce house should never be set up on windy days, regardless of the type of stakes you have. Winds over 20 MPH have potential to tip over or blow away one of these structures.
The professionals and parents supervising should both be aware of tie-down procedures, should an emergency occur.
Before you add the stakes, make sure the inflatable is on flat ground that’s free of debris.
Stakes should be added to the corners, where they should get pounded into the ground first, and then tightened with a metal tie-down. Make sure the stakes get driven into the ground at a 45-degree angle.

In my experience with yard Outdoor holiday inflatable decorations factory is that after a very wet period of time, some inflatables just do not want to inflate again. After much troubleshooting, the most common and only fix I ever had to use was the following. Please read the steps, because I describe the state of the inflatable so that you will know if this fix will work for you or not.
Easiest Way to Fix an Inflatable Holiday Yard Decoration
First, make sure you do not see any exposed copper wiring near the fan. If this happens, there is not an easy fix as these devices do not come apart easily.
Make sure there is no exposed wire on the two wires near the plug right before the thick plastic entering the power adapter. If this is your case, once again, this is not an easy fix. It can be done, but you have to know how to solder and rewire. I have had this happen to one of mine (from a kid that would not stop playing with them) and it was just not worth it to fix.
Unscrew the adapter and look inside, is it clean or does it have a green like dusty look as seen in this picture below? If it is greenish, that is your problem. Water got into the adapter and hung out for too long.
Here is a picture of a bad power adapter and a good one. Do you see how the good one is clean with now green in it?
Solution: Replace with a new adapter. You can either use an extra from Halloween or from Christmas (just a different holiday inflatable that is not going to be used). The other option is to order one. This place has them, but I have not order from them because I was able to use another adapter from broken ones or other holidays.
After it is replaced, it should work like a charm!
After I noticed this trend, I started using plumbers tape on all of the AC adapters by wrapping it around the threads and the connection from the cord to the adapter.

The same rings true for any sort of festive decorating.
Usually we can get away with skimping out, but, this year -- it being our toddler’s first Halloween where he understands what’s happening-- there’s no way out. So, in a last minute hustle, we tracked down the happiest, trickiest, treat-i-est Halloween decor this side of the tombstone.

  (4)Hay Bails
Ok, this might not seem all that glamorous at first glance, but when it comes to Halloween decor, nothing says "creepy walkway" or "rat nest" quite like hay bails. They’re such an easy way to transform your front porch or pathway into something other-world. Both before and after the big day, you can use the bails in your gardens, create a door wreath or simply stack them up and add some fall decor to your home.
  (5) Lights
You don’t have a lot of room? You live in a condo? There’s no access to power for gigantic inflatables? You want to be festive but not that festive? Simply adorn your windows, front doorway or bushes with some creepy lights. And, forget those pretty twinkling holiday lights.
